Title: Sunday, 2 November

Blog Entry: A week later. It's been a whole week since my last post. Funny but I thought it had only been about seven days! There are forces at work that defy the understanding or mere mortals and they are arranged against me to defeat whatever I plan. I'm sure this is spiteful and I guess that makes the spiteful gremlins. On Thursday, we had planned to go snapper fishing before the closure on Friday. One last bash because the weather had not been kind to fishermen and we reasoned that they fish were there, hungry because of the poor weather and there would be fights over our baits. Wednesday nigh small boat forcast was dismal. 25 kt plus wind, 2m swell and 2m waves. So we cancelled. Thursday dawned fine and warm, light breeze. The water was like a mirror until 1000hr when a small breeze rippled the water. So we thought, we'll go on Sunday, and we'll just drop the pick out the front of Semaphore and crab for the day. Plan in place. Friday shaped up well and delievered. Saturday was forecast as reasonable with 1m waves and 18-23kt winds. Sunday forecast was for 23-28kt winds, 3m waves, thunderstorms, etc. Who believed that? 0600. Thunder, lightening, pissing rain. Back to bed, the boat still in the carport. Roaming around at 1000hr for a coffee, I thought it not a bit warm. Opened the front door - sunlight, blue sky, no rain, light breeze. Rang around. nNw, weathers too inconsistent. Might not last. I've started painting my fingernails. Now it's five o'clock and the day has been good, very good. Gone into my favourites and deleted the BOM link - that is the Bureau of Meterology. They are definitely not my favourites! Going to Goolwa on Wednesday to rake for cockles. That's the day the cockle seaon opens, and at $160 a bag for 50kg, I'll certainly be bending my back. Was a time last year when you could buy 50kg for $55 from any tackle store. Now that Japan wants them, up goes the price. Someone should blow Japan up. Of course, just to put a kink in my plans the BOM have forecast 24 degrees and thunderstorms, but I'm going, thunderstorms, cyclones or earthquakes. How the hell can they put a bloke on the moon, send a space craft to Mars and launch the Hubble telescope, but they can't predict weather with a reasonable accuracy of 50%?
