Nice one Bluey.

I think its the Mark 15, clipped the wings for medium to low level sorties.

When I was younger, I,m sure there was one  in St Georges Terrace on a plinth in the late fivties early sixties.

It will be one of places to vist when I come home

A slight bank of about 15 degrees port would see her on line for Parliament House, Rad.
I was surprised at how big the Spit is when I first saw one many years ago. A lot of its size is engine and fuel tanks.

This is one of the later models (not sure what Mark) with the ends of the wings clipped off. Takes away some of the good looks of the original elliptical wings.

OK Bluey if the Drop shorts couldn't set up the old 25 Pounder (9.33 Kilogrammer?) to hit the big house, is the Spitty on a straffing run in a similar direction?

In my tired Army mind it is still a toss up between this beauty and the P51 Mustang.  On looks alone I mean.

This is the Spitfire that guards the gates at RAAF Association in Bullcreek, WA.
The aircraft is about 90% original, with some perishable bits like the plexiglass canopy, the propellor blades and the wheels and tyres being replaced with fibreglass replicas.

The building in the background is the RAAFA Club, (good little boozer) and out of shot on the right is the Aviation Museum. Don't miss it if you are visiting Perth. It has an excellent display from pre WW1 to space era missile stuff.
